Cloud Engineer - IaaS, Hybrid Cloud(Sizeable Company, Base Macau, Double Pay)

Responsibilities

• Responsible for day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and incident recovery of the IaaS layer within a private/hybrid cloud platform.

• Maintain compute virtualization platforms (KVM, OpenStack Nova, Glance) and management nodes, handling VM lifecycle issues.

• Maintain software-defined networking (SDN) and virtual network environments, including VPCs, virtual routers, security groups, and VPNs.

• Maintain distributed block and object storage systems, addressing node failures, performance bottlenecks, and data synchronization anomalies.

• Support the underlying infrastructure of container platforms (Kubernetes / Docker), assisting in troubleshooting container networking and storage issues.

• Execute changes and upgrades (patching, rolling upgrades), including planning, risk assessment, rollback preparation, and progress tracking.

• Provide technical training and enablement to L1 support and customers, producing operational guides and best-practice documentation.

• Write automation scripts (Shell / Python) to improve monitoring, inspection, and self-healing capabilities.

• Collaborate with L2 support or vendor teams, drive complex issues to closure, and produce root cause analysis (RCA) reports.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent practical experience.

• 5+ years of IT infrastructure experience, including at least 3 years in-depth working with cloud platforms or large-scale virtualization.

• Proficient in Linux system administration (CentOS, RHEL, Rocky Linux, or similar), with kernel tuning and log analysis skills.

• Strong scripting skills in Shell or Python for operational automation.

• Solid understanding of KVM virtualization and OpenStack compute services (Nova, Glance) — able to independently troubleshoot scheduling and image issues.

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, dynamic routing protocols (OSPF / BGP), and VPN technologies (IPsec / SSL).

• Knowledge of SDN and virtual networking: familiar with Open vSwitch, VXLAN, distributed routers, and proficient with Neutron commands.

• Hands-on experience with at least one distributed storage technology (e.g., Ceph, GlusterFS, or equivalent enterprise solution), understanding replication/erasure coding, snapshots, and performance tuning.

• Operational experience with Kubernetes and Docker — able to diagnose issues at the pod, node, and container network levels.

• Proven ability to handle major incidents independently , quickly isolating root causes across compute, network, and storage domains.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills, able to translate complex technical issues into clear language for clients.
