AI Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and motivated AI Engineer to join our banking technology team. In this hands-on role, you will develop, integrate, and maintain AI-powered solutions that drive business value. Working closely with an AI Lead, you will gain exposure to the full development lifecycle, from building RAG pipelines to assisting with GenAI-driven legacy modernization, all within a highly regulated financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Development & Maintenance: Design, code, test, and maintain robust AI applications and systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product owners to deliver seamless, high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives.

• Agile Delivery: Actively participate in Agile/Scrum or Waterfall development cycles, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and iterative delivery.

• Integration & Implementation: Integrate AI capabilities (LLMs, APIs, agents) into existing banking applications, following architectural guidelines provided by the AI Lead.

• Prompt Engineering & RAG: Build and optimize Prompt Engineering workflows and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines to enhance model accuracy and relevance.

• Agent Development: Assist in the design and implementation of AI Agents for specific use cases under senior technical supervision.

• Legacy Modernization: Contribute to modernization initiatives by leveraging Generative AI tools and Spec Coding to refactor or enhance legacy systems.

• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve application issues to ensure smooth operations, and provide technical assistance to junior team members as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of system development experience, with demonstrable work on large-scale AI or machine learning systems.

• Core AI Knowledge: Solid understanding of fundamental AI and machine learning algorithms and their practical applications.

• Frameworks & Models: Hands-on experience with ML/DL frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and familiarity with LLMs (e.g., DeepSeek, Gemini, Qwen, or equivalent).

• Cloud Platforms: Experience deploying or managing AI workloads on cloud platforms such as AWS or AliCloud.

• Programming: Proficiency in Python and Java, with strong coding and debugging skills.

• Integration Skills: Proven ability to integrate AI services or models into existing application architectures.

• Communication: Ability to read and write fluently in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized AI Experience: Practical exposure to Prompt Engineering, RAG pipelines, and AI Agent development.

• Modernization Projects: Prior experience using Generative AI or Coding Copilots for legacy modernization or code transformation.

• Banking Domain: Familiarity with financial services environments and their data privacy/security considerations.

• Cantonese: Ability to communicate verbally in Cantonese is a plus.
