Business Development Manager

Role Summary

We are seeking a Business Development (BD) professional for Financial Data Service to drive commercial growth for Datago’s data products and analytics solutions . This role requires strong client-facing skills and the ability to understand, position, and communicate data-driven products to institutional clients. The ideal candidate is fluent in both Chinese and English and has a good understanding of buy-side workflows (e.g., research, trading, risk, portfolio management) across client teams including PMs, quants, researchers, risk, and data engineering . You will become highly familiar with Datago’s datasets, and a background in data analysis is a strong plus.

With a diverse global client base—particularly across Asia Pacific—this role involves client visits to major financial centers across APAC. Participation in industry conferences and exhibitions is a pivotal aspect of the position.

Responsibilities

· Build deep familiarity with Datago’s data products/services and value positioning.

· Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities across APAC, with a focus on hedge funds, asset managers, quant teams, banks, and research institutions.

· Own the full sales cycle: lead generation, qualification, pitching, solutioning, pricing, negotiation, contracting, and renewal/upsell.

· Maintain a strong pipeline with disciplined CRM management, accurate forecasting, and structured account/opportunity planning.

· Represent Datago at industry conferences, exhibitions, and client events; develop new opportunities through networking and market visibility.

· Gather market and competitor intelligence and provide feedback to internal teams to refine product positioning and roadmap priorities.

Requirements

· Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English (written and spoken), with strong presentation and communication skills.

· Understanding of buy-side investment workflows and how data is used in research, trading, and risk management.

· Ability to learn and articulate technical/data concepts clearly (e.g., dataset structure, delivery methods and backtesting) to both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Strong stakeholder management, structured problem-solving, and comfort coordinating across multiple internal teams.

· Willingness to travel on demand for client meetings, conferences, and exhibitions.

Preferred Qualifications

· Fluency in Cantonese (in addition to Mandarin and English).

· Experience with CRM systems and strong pipeline/forecast discipline.

· Background in data analysis or quantitative research support, or hands-on experience working with datasets (e.g., SQL, data QA, basic statistical concepts).

· Experience selling financial data, alternative data, analytics platforms, or SaaS solutions to institutional clients (e.g., hedge funds, asset managers and universities).
