Job Description
The Securities Settlement Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely settlement of securities transactions. This position is ideal for candidates who are looking to develop their expertise in processing daily settlements for equities, bonds, and other instruments, while supporting trade operations and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Settlement Processing
Execute securities transactions in settlement efficiently and accurately.
Handle daily settlement activities (scripless and physical) for equities, bonds, and other financial instruments.
Trade and Instruction Support
Assist in trade booking and repair settlement instructions pending approval.
Support reconciliation reviews to ensure accuracy.
Assist in arranging stamp duty payment preparation processes.
Client and Market Coordination
Prepare and issue instructions to the market and agents for the settlement of client instructions under supervision.
Reporting and Escalation
Report any suspicious or outstanding transactions or incidents to the Team Manager and relevant parties in accordance with the Incident Management Policy.
System and Process Testing
Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for system enhancements as required.
Assist in reviewing business requirements and preparing test cases under guidance.
Project and Development Participation
Participate in project initiatives, customer implementation support, and operational reviews.
Attend job-specific and related training to develop skills and knowledge.
General Duties
Perform regular and ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Team Manager and Department Head.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
1-2 years of experience in securities settlement, custody, or operations is preferred; fresh graduates with relevant internships will also be considered.
Basic understanding of settlement processes for equities, bonds, and other financial instruments.
Willingness to learn payment systems, forex, and basic accounting entries.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; prior exposure to settlement systems is a plus.
