Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Assist senior chefs in food preparation, including chopping, peeling, marinating, and portioning ingredients according to recipes and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times.
- Support plating and presentation of dishes under the guidance of the chef de partie or sous chef.
- Monitor stock levels of pantry items and report shortages or spoilage to kitchen supervisors promptly.
- Participate in daily mise en place, prep lists, and post-service cleaning routines as assigned.
Requirements
- Completed formal culinary training or equivalent vocational qualification; apprenticeship experience is highly valued.
- Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety practices (e.g., HACCP principles), and kitchen terminology.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately, work efficiently under pressure, and adapt to fast-paced service environments.
- Strong teamwork orientation with willingness to learn, take feedback constructively, and support colleagues across kitchen sections.
- Valid food handler certification and right to work in the country of employment are mandatory.
