Job Description

Job Responsibilities

Lead the pre-navigation preparation work, including route planning, weather evaluation, ship status check, life-saving and fire-fighting equipment inspection, and completion of necessary maritime applications;
Coordinate the safety management of ship personnel (including passengers and accompanying crew), continuously monitor the environmental conditions during navigation, and respond promptly to sudden changes in sea conditions or mechanical abnormalities;
Comply with the Hong Kong Maritime Department's Merchant Ship (Yacht) Regulations and other applicable laws, and properly keep navigation logs, maintenance records, license documents and passenger registration data;
Communicate with shipowners, leasing companies or management to understand service needs, provide professional navigation advice, and if necessary, participate in customer reception, briefings and basic yacht knowledge.

Work requirements

Familiarity with Hong Kong waters (including Victoria Harbour, Lamma Island, the coast of Tseung Kwan O and the outlying islands) including tides, channels, navigational aids and common navigational hazards;
Have basic knowledge of ship electrical and mechanical systems, be able to identify engine, rudder, power and communication equipment operating abnormalities, and be able to make preliminary fault diagnosis and emergency response;
High sense of responsibility and stable psychological quality, no major violations of navigation records, pass basic physical examination and no criminal record check.
