Assistant Chemist

Job Description

• Conduct chemical testing and inspection in accordance with established SOPs with minimal supervision.

• Support laboratory tasks including sample logging, data handling, and statistical analysis.

• Assist to perform method development and validation, including statistical evaluation, uncertainty estimation, and data quality assessment.

• Assist in implementing ISO/IEC 17025 and HOKLAS requirements within the laboratory.

• Operate and maintain analytical instruments, including calibration and routine upkeep.

• Prepare testing standards, working solutions, and reagents following SOPs.

• Manage inventory of laboratory tools and glassware, conduct environmental monitoring, and perform other support tasks.

• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Degree or above in Chemistry/ Analytical Science/ Environmental Science or other relevant disciplines

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

• Preferably with hands‑on experience in method development and validation.

• Familiarity with HOKLAS and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

• Experience with analytical instruments such as ICP and XRF is highly advantageous.

• Hardworking, self‑motivated, and able to perform well under pressure.

• Proficient in PC operation with strong skills in MS Word and Excel.

• Good command of written and spoken English and Cantonese.

• Demonstrates a positive attitude with strong problem‑solving abilities.

• Candidates with less experience may be considered for the position of Laboratory Technician

• Immediately available is highly preferred.
