Strategic Sourcing Specialist - Technical Sourcing

<p><strong><u>Role Summary</u></strong></p><p></p><p>We are seeking a hunter-type, digitally savvy, and highly resourceful Strategic Sourcing Specialist to drive Vela Eurasia’s ability to identify and qualify the right manufacturers across China and globally. This role is mission-critical to improving our RFQ win rate, reducing costs, and enabling high-growth new business in plastics, metal parts, tooling, and electronics.<br><br>This person will work closely with our Project Managers, Sales, and Engineering teams to scout and onboard top-performing, industry-matched suppliers in record time.</p><p></p><p><strong><u>Key Responsibilities</u></strong></p><p></p><p><strong>Supplier Discovery & Qualification</strong></p><p>- Identify and evaluate new suppliers (metal, plastic/injection molding, electronics, PCBA) using online resources and personal network.<br>- Shortlist suppliers based on industry fit.<br>- Conduct initial qualification: DFM feedback, sample capability, certifications, site visit coordination.</p><p><strong>Cost and Capability Benchmarking</strong></p><p>- Collect and compare quotes from multiple manufacturers per RFQ.<br>- Challenge existing supplier base and drive cost competitiveness and quality improvements.<br>- Maintain a real-time database of pricing benchmarks by category and industry.</p><p><strong>RFQ Process Support</strong></p><p>- Support Project Managers and Sales team in preparing competitive, validated quotations.<br>- Ensure sourcing inputs are ready within 24–48 hours of RFQ receipt.<br>- Provide risk assessment of proposed suppliers.</p><p><strong>Supplier Intelligence & System Building</strong></p><p>- Build and maintain a centralized Supplier Intelligence System</p><p>- Document case studies of successful/failed suppliers by industry.<br>- Create quick "sourcing playbooks" for major product categories.</p><p></p><p><strong><u>Ideal Candidate Profile</u></strong></p><p><strong>Must-Have Experience</strong></p><p>- 3–7 years' experience in sourcing, supplier scouting, or supply chain roles.</p><p>- Solid mechanical engineering or electronics engineering background.<br>- Strong track record in finding new suppliers and negotiating competitive prices.<br>- Experience sourcing across multiple categories.<br>- Familiarity with various sourcing channels.</p><p><strong>Must-Have Skills</strong></p><p>- Fluent in Mandarin and English.<br>- Digitally fluent.<br>- Fast, accurate online researcher.<br>- Commercially sharp and cost-conscious.<br>- Hunter mindset with urgency.<br>- Strong communication and cross-cultural negotiation skills.</p><p><strong>Bonus Points</strong></p><p>- Experience working with industrial or B2B product companies.<br>- Knowledge of DFM, tooling validation, and certifications.<br>- Technical education background.</p>
