Position : UI/UX Designer Intern

Working Mode: Part Time

Location: Remote working

Role Overview

As a UI/UX Designer Intern, you will be at the forefront of crafting the user interface and experience for our AI-powered tool, ensuring it delights users and reflects our brand’s commitment to harmony and innovation. You’ll collaborate closely with our Software Engineering team to design, test, and refine the app’s interface, gaining hands-on experience in UI/UX design at an exciting intersection of technology and cultural tradition.

Responsibilities

  • Design wireframes and prototypes: Create low- and high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes using Figma or similar tools to visualize user flows and interfaces, developing skills in UI design and prototyping.

  • Conduct user research: Plan and execute usability tests, surveys, and user interviews to gather feedback on interface designs, building expertise in user-centric design.

  • Develop UI designs: Create visually appealing interface elements (e.g., layouts, color schemes, typography) that align with brand aesthetics, enhancing your visual design and branding skills.

  • Iterate based on feedback: Refine designs based on user testing insights and team input, learning iterative design processes to improve usability and engagement.

  • Collaborate with engineers: Work with the Software Engineer Intern to ensure designs are technically feasible and optimized for implementation, fostering technical collaboration.

  • Support user testing: Assist in testing prototypes for usability and functionality, developing skills in quality assurance and UX validation.

  • Create design assets: Produce reusable UI components (e.g., buttons, icons) and maintain a design system, improving efficiency in design workflows.

  • Analyze user behavior: Use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar) to track user interactions during testing, gaining data-driven design insights.

  • Contribute to go-to-market materials: Design visuals for marketing assets (e.g., demo screenshots, landing page mockups), gaining exposure to product launch strategies.

  • Document design decisions: Maintain clear documentation of design rationale and user research findings, building technical communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Current enrolment in a Bachelor’s program, Higher Diploma, or Associate Degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Product Design, or a related field (e.g., Visual Communication, Digital Design).

  • Proficiency in UI/UX design tools: Hands-on experience with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or Balsamiq for wireframing, prototyping, and UI design.

  • User research skills: Experience conducting usability tests, user interviews, or surveys to gather actionable feedback, with knowledge of research methodologies (e.g., A/B testing, user personas).

  • Visual design expertise: Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout principles, with the ability to create aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly interfaces.

  • Familiarity with design systems: Ability to create and maintain reusable UI components and adhere to design guidelines.

  • Basic technical literacy: Understanding of front-end development (e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript basics) or Agile/Scrum workflows to collaborate with engineers.

  • Analytical skills: Comfort using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar) or Excel to analyze user behavior and inform design decisions.

  • Excellent communication skills: Ability to articulate design choices and collaborate with technical and non-technical team members in a remote setting.

  • Proactive and adaptable mindset: Self-starter attitude with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

  • Interest in Culture or wellness: Passion for or curiosity about blending cultural traditions with technology is a plus.
