Network Engineer- Contractor

Job Summary

Support the delivery of medium-complexity network projects within the bank, working under the guidance of senior engineers and architects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in translating network designs into actionable tasks, ensuring smooth implementation of WAN/LAN/WLAN solutions (including traditional and software-defined connectivity). Focus on executing assigned project phases, maintaining operational stability, and learning from senior colleagues to build expertise in enterprise network technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support & Execution

• Assist senior engineers in planning, testing, and implementing network projects (e.g., WAN/LAN upgrades, security configurations).

• Contribute to day-to-day tasks like configuring network devices, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and documenting project steps.

• Support the integration of new technologies (e.g., SD-WAN, cloud connectivity) under supervision.

Technical Collaboration

• Work with engineering teams to validate network designs, participate in proof-of-concept testing, and ensure compliance with security standards.

• Assist in managing vendor relationships by supporting RFP/RFI processes, tracking deliverables, and documenting vendor interactions.

• Act as a point of contact for operational teams, providing updates on project progress and resolving routine technical queries.

Risk & Process Compliance

• Follow the bank’s change management processes and document workflows accurately to ensure audit readiness.

• Assist in identifying and escalating potential risks or issues in network operations to senior team members.

• Learn and apply security best practices (e.g., firewall rules, access controls) under the guidance of cybersecurity teams.

Learning & Development

• Proactively build knowledge of enterprise network technologies (WAN/LAN/WLAN, routing/switching, network security).

• Shadow senior SMEs to gain exposure to incident management, troubleshooting complex outages, and optimizing network performance.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, IT infrastructure, or related technical roles.

• Basic understanding of WAN/LAN architectures, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security principles.

• Familiarity with tools like Cisco, Juniper, or cloud-native network platforms (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure Networking).

• Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

• Eagerness to learn enterprise-level network strategies, automation tools, and governance frameworks.
